Grab Bags?

This one is easy. I have a hate/love relationship with them. I hate them when I spend my money, download, unzip, and then think, why the hell did I just purchase THIS?? After that, I quickly delete it and make a mental note that I will never do it again. Then, I go off, forgetting that damn mental note, and I get a grab bag that absolutely knocks my too tight socks off! Hell yeah! And then I make a mental note to give grab bags a try again. When I do take the plunge again, I usually download, unzip, and then think, why the hell did I just purchase THIS?? (wait a second...I'm having deja vu here!) Oh yes, that damn mental note: NEVER buy another grab bag again...

can you see where this is going? It is a vicious cycle. For me, anyway. What about you? Do you buy them? Do you love them, hate them? Something in between?

I don't love them that's for sure, but if you know who to buy from they can be great. Guess it's just a crap shoot - some days you win and some you're just thankful you didn't blow the bankroll.

I will only buy if it's from a designer that I already know and love! I think they could be a great way to try a designer's designs out, but I can't say I've bought one from a designer that i wouldn't normally buy from that I liked at all.

I won't just buy them from anyone anymore. I have to really like what that designer makes before I will touch it, too much disappointment there. I seen one designer today is doing a plastic bag gb you can see inside if only they all came that way!

I hate buying grab bags, I rather see what it is that I am buying. I never did like being surprised.

Thanks for stopping by my blog, I added your link on my blog.

I've been bummed too many times with Grab Bags - I'm just not a gambler. I'd rather see what I am buying, even a peek to see if colors would suit, etc. And $2/$3 is still $2/$3 that could have been spent on something I could actually scrap with. But I keep buying them. And being disappointed.

However, there are a few designers that I do keep buying grab bags from cos they are good. I won't miss Janet Phillips' (mega bag) - always a couple of template packs, an alpha, and often a coupon too. Kylie Clark's Worm deal is good too - and this last one she showed everything that was in the bag on her blog, so no risk!

um, I'm sure there are more, just can't think of them ...

Yup, DD is now moderating every comment, seems a little Hitleresque to me.

This blog is gonna become so popular now lol

It's the comments like what 10pm left and the 2 comments right after that, that are exactly the reason that DD is temporarily doing what she is doing. The comment serves absolutely no constructive purpose and is personally attacking someone for no reason, and have absolutely NO connection to the thread they are posting in. How childish and immature can you get? Isn't the scrapbooking community supposed to be full of adults? If all you want to do is post filthy names why don't you just crawl back into your scrapbooking room and scrap in silence. These are supposed to be constructive blogs, to get opinions (yes, both positive and negative), but not for personally slashing someone, especially in the manner of which you folks are doing.

She's backtracking after the flack started rolling down. In the beginning her page said not to come if you don't have a thick skin.......now it's don't come if you can't say something nice. @@

Anonymous said...

No, she's saying don't be petty, childish and downright crude. You can have a thick skin if someone says you hate this kit or the way this store is designed and I had poor customer service at this store. But for folks to just come on a blog and say 'she's a c***', or 'she's a self-righteous b****', and continue to bash her personally when there's generally no justification, is just downright wrong and that wasn't her intent of the blog.
Just because you don't like someone's work doesn't mean you can start just throwing out the names and acting like a 2 year old, especially when you are so off topic it's pathetic. Businesses deal with bad press about their products all the time, but nobody handles unsubstantiated personal attacks well, I don't care who you are.

DD ruined free speach.

DD caved in to the self righteous tight ass groupies on DST *shakes head*

Anonymous said...

she caved to nothing. since nobody has a clue who she is, how did she cave to pressure?

she made a choice. you don't like it - don't go there. stay here and turn this blog into the crass demoralizing immature attacks on people personally. it really is that simple.

Anyone else think people are taking these blogs way tooooo seriously? Like on DST where they say they cryy bouhouhou. My god people, grow some skin.

TROLL said...

I agree with ya. I will come here for some great smacks and still visit DD and see how that goes.

I don't see this blog becoming popular, where are all the brutual smackers ?

DD moderates everything now. How boring is that. You get a reply to your question 2 hours later. Can we say yawn?

digiscrapsmack said...

Wow, I just noticed that DD started moderating...kinda what she was trying to avoid at DST, eh? Well, I don't plan on moderating anything at all. If you come here to bitch and moan and if you come here to be downright mean, that is your business. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I'm no one's babysitter. I don't have to agree with what ya say and you don't have to agree with me, but it doesn't mean I won't protect your right to say it, yo. Peace. he he he!

So this post is supposed to be about grab bags. It sounds like some of you are disappointed that there isn't more smacking going on. How unsettling that is. Why in the world would you get your jollies from dissing people you don't even know. Perhaps you are jealous of other peoples popularity and success.

Jealousy is an ugly emotion and I see ugliness in your comments. That is sad. I won't be back to this blog.

If the grabbags are really so good and worthwhile, while won't the designers show us the content? They'll be able to get more sales that way, right?

Anonymous said...

I sure hope more designers show what's in the bag rather than just telling us how many MBs' in there. Served no purpose because the filesize of a paper pack consisting of a few pieces of papers can be bigger than a regular kit of more papers and elements of equal quality.

I don't like grab bags. I would rather know what I am buying.

TammyKat said...

Well I've bought ONE grab bag and won't do it ever again at this point unless they start showing whats in them. To me its a way to make money by selling crap most of the time. Hiding the items is crazy. I wouldn't buy ANYTHING in the store that I couldn't see so why would I online? Out of the grab bag that I did buy with 5 items, I think, inside I use ONE of them and deleted the rest.

Anonymous said...

Those designers who dare show what's in the bag are the really those who are really proud of what they've put in them. I only buy bags with contents I can see.

Anonymous said...

Check out the lolly bag grag bags at pickleberrypop.com - there are 8 of them, and most show the contents. I just bought 6!
